Exotische Animalprints

English Version below

Eure tierisch-verliebte Monika

Exotic animal prints

Fashion trend 2020 or style statement?

If I should choose an animal print, it would be the Leo pattern. I always had a passion for fashion pieces in Leo. But if you look around in the fashion world, you can find many other variations and adaptations like zebras, tigers, snakes, crocodiles, giraffes and many more. The imagination knows no limits. We can find them on bags, shoes, umbrellas, dresses and even on lingerie

Animal prints are everywhere!

Because they are refreshing, thrilling and they let us dream of wild and huge adventures. Animal prints remind us of the jungle and foreign distances. Since the 1960s it’s always trendy to imitate and depict exotic furs and animals.

But animal prints in fashion are way more than just a simple fashion trend. They are more like a clear statement. The person who wears them has an extravagant aura if the prints are mixed with style.

Animal prints never die

For over half a century these patterns are en vogue and they couldn’t be missed in the fashion industry. But the hype actually started with a sad story.

How these prints became a trend

Style icon Jackie Kennedy was wearing a coat from Oleg Cassini made of (unfortunately) real leopard fur for the first time in 1962. The crowd went crazy and they all ask for this special coat. On account of using only real furs for these coats, 250,000 leopards had to die back then, so the Telegraph said. Luckily these times are over and we can create fashion with animal prints without harming any animal. But one thing is for sure the fashion industry had to turn this trend into an evergreen.

Of course in this year the fashion designers count on these prints, too. I’ll let you know what is super trendy today. Because not every animal print is the same.

Which pattern is now trendy?

As far as you can see three animal prints are now en vogue:

Leo, Zebra and Tiger Prints

You can’t miss these ones and you should have at least one piece in your closet. Especially the zebra look is now the most favourite pattern of all. But:

Which animal piece is stylish without overdoing it?

You can’t do anything wrong with the cool shirt in Leo look. One of my favourites Leo shirts is from Marc Cain. It is already vintage again because I bought it over 20 years ago. I love to mix it with leather trousers or skirts. Leggings are coming back to fashion and that’s why you can easily wear the comfortable option to your Leo shirt. An oversized shirt can be very young and stylish if you are the type of person for that. If you love to show your belly, a sexy crop top with animal print can be a good choice for you, too.

Another hot it-piece can be a dress in animal print. I personally love dresses with Leo on it. And I love to see tall women with these maxi dresses that reach to the bottom in allover Leo or zebra design.

Shirts, Dresses and Pencil skirts in Animal-Look

Totally trendy and charming are pencil skirts in tiger, zebra or Leo print. They create a wonderful feminine shape. Smaller women look beautiful with wedges or heels on, if they wear these skirts. Taller women can wear sneakers or flat sandals, of course. Combine it with a monochrome shirt and you have a daily outfit with a special something.

If you want to set a true statement then you have to invest in a coat with Leo or zebra print.

Leo or zebra coats are worth investing

No matter if you choose a raincoat, a trench or a fake fur option, coats with animal patterns are a musthave for fashion victims. With that, you are not only on top of fashion but a good mood is guaranteed through the grey and rainy days. An alternative for the summer could be a blazer in an animal design.  Totally cool and easy-going are blazers with a black/orange tiger fur print. You should stick to monochrome pieces if you put on an eyecatcher like that.

Mixing patterns but how?

Surely, you can mix animal patterns. You only need a little fun and courage to try out. It’s easy when you take the main piece in animal prints and put it together with accessories in another animal print. For example, you combine a Leo shirt with a scarf, bag or bracelet in zebra style.

Brave ones try other patterns like plaids. But pay attention, if you try to mix different patterns of one print. This could be too much.

In any case, animal prints are eyecatchers and they tell a story about the person who wears them. And without them, fashion would definitely be a sadder place.

Animal prints are not only a trend in 2020 but a strong style statement that will always be found in fashion.

Your animal-loving Monika
